The man was climbing on the rocks near Burning Palms Beach at about 11am when he slipped and got stuck on a rock ledge.
Special Operations ambulance paramedics and the Helensburgh ambulance crew rushed to the scene.
When they saw the location of the man, who was in his early 20s, they called for the Ambulance Rescue helicopter to be sent down from Bankstown.
It arrived and pulled the man out, landing safely in an area overlooking the beach.
He was treated for minor injuries, including a laceration to his leg, and was taken by ambulance to Sutherland Hospital.
