2pm: POLICE and SES volunteers have scoured bush land at Mt Keira in search of a missing person.
The person, whose identity has not been released by police, was reported missing several months ago.
The Mercury understands the search was expected to yield human remains.
On Saturday, 20 members from Wollongong and Coniston SES units joined members of Police Rescue Squad in covering a large area of bushland.
The search continued on Sunday and Monday.
Police have yet to comment on the outcome.
SES community engagement co-ordinator Andrew McCullough said the subject of the search was a long-term missing person, but otherwise would not provide details of the police operation.
He paid tribute to the efforts of SES members.
‘‘It was a long weekend and great to have so many members available to get involved in the search,’’ he said.
‘‘It was hot weather and they did a really good job, showing a great commitment.’’
