A series of rugby league teams competed in a state-wide knockout competition to highlight the need for more Aboriginal foster carers.

During Foster Care Week, eight Aboriginal rugby league teams represented their regions in the Kids in Care Cup at Sid Parrish Park, Figtree on Saturday.
The adult Aboriginal men’s rugby league teams battled it out for the Kids in Care Cup title. Teams included two from the Illawarra Titans.
The LooFern team beat the La Perouse Bummers 14-12 in the grand final.
The under-17s Illawarra All-Stars also took on Worimi Dolphins.
“The Kids in Care Cup was a great day out as it brought people together to raise awareness of the need for more foster carers across NSW,” Rod Broad, Kids in Care Cup event manager and Illawarra Titans Rugby League Football Club spokesperson said.
The Kids in Care Cup is hosted by the Illawarra Titans Aboriginal Rugby League Football Club.
Foster Care Week (September 10-16) aims to celebrate the role played by foster carers in making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people in our society.
