Marie, who has held a number of world, Australian and state titles in track events, was understandably chuffed at having received such an honour. The Wollongong, Kiama and Nowra legs of the relay will occur on February 5, 2018.
Stats have recently come through regarding Chelsea's record breaking multi performance at Campbelltown. Staring with a personal best in the 200m, a personal best in 60m hurdles at 9.93 sec, 25.87s, personal best in Long Jump 4.60m and a PB in 800m 2:32.06s. Her total points was the highest out of all the age groups from under 6 to under 17 with a total points of 6,239.
Well done to three Athletics Wollongong Athletes who recently received Illawarra Zone Sporting Blue Awards at an event hosted by Figtree High School. Those athletes are Blake Barklay, Jackie Lenartowicz and Rosie Tozer

In the recent NSW Little Athletics Relays, the Wollongong U15 girls finished 1st in the 4x100m relay with a time of 50.18 sec, and 4th in jumps relay. The team consisted of Janna Hadaya, Grace Adams, Hannah Crinnion and Alyssa Parks. Their combined total for the jumps relay was 23.07m.
Our last meeting again saw a number of records tumble. Patrice Sivills was one of the brave few to contest the 5000m and he was rewarded with a club record of 19'15.13 in the U14s. Delta Amidzovski broke her fourth record of the season; 4.68m is now the new mark to beat in the U12s Long Jump. Sarah Walker also broke one of her own records, with 14.89s in the U16 90m hurdles. This was the last chance at each event for many of our athletes before they move up an age group next year.
Last Sunday saw four of our members, three of them juniors, contest the open class events in the 5th round of the Treloar Shield. Congratulations go to Nathan Cowgill, 1st men’s Javelin with 55.06m, Delta Adminovski in the Open Women’s over 4m group long jump, with 4.73m, and in the High Jump, Open Women's over 1.2m with a height of 1.40m, the 80m hurdles coming 4th in 13.61 seconds, and coincidentally also ran 13.61 in the 100m flat. Jayda Adminovski, jumped 4.25m in the 4m plus open women's and ran 14.06 seconds in the 100m. Tierney Dunne ran a 12.31 seconds in the 100m and 25.48 in the 200m.
