The latter topped 40.3 degrees at 10am but had dropped to 32.5 degrees just 26 minutes alter. By 12:30pm the Bureau of Meteorolgy had recorded 27.6 degrees at Bellambi with 66 per cent humidity.
Statistics for Albion Park were similar though the suburb was still registering 33.9 degrees at 1pm. While Kiama was yet to reach 30.
It follows a warm morning with 28 degrees recorded in some parts of the region at 7:30am.
The Bureau predicts southerly winds will begin cooling the hot and bothered slightly from Sunday afternoon though temperatures won’t be dropping below 20 anytime soon.
Temperatures are set to drop to the mid to low-20s after 6pm. A slight chance of rain expected Monday morning won’t do much cooling with temperatures expected to peak in the high 20s again.
A slight chance of a storm and an overcast day is forecast for Wollongong for Monday with a top temperature of 29 degrees.
It looks like it will be a humid week ahead with showers predicted and temperatures ranging between 23 and 26 degrees.
