The indoor surface earned rave reviews from Australian captain Alicia Molik, who is confident the court will suit the Australian team.
“We’re really happy with the court surface here at WIN,” Molik said. “Our players really like it, they’ve come off quite a heavy hard court season, but then many were playing on green clay in Charleston. It’s a small adjustment, but they have been training on hard court in the lead up to this tie.
“It’s perfect for us, it allows a really attacking game, which I feel like the Australian team have.”
Dutch captain Paul Haarhuis also praised the court after seeing it for the first time on Wednesday.
“I think this type of court suits all the players,” Haarhuis said. “It’s not really fast, it’s not really slow, so it’s suitable for all games. I think it doesn’t favour any of the teams.”
