SHAME, SHAME, SHAME
Union boss John Setka and his deputy, Shaun Reardon have had all charges of corruption dropped, does this mean that there is minimal corruption in the union movement or that the LNP are just totally incompetent?

I guess they can’t be that incompetent because the Banking Royal Commission they were forced into holding seems to have managed to discover a massive amount of corrupt and possibly illegal activities as soon as it started.
What a shame our Government had to waste all that time and money looking for corruption that was not there and at the same time managed to overlook the massive complaints from ordinary Australians.

RENEWABLE ENERGY SCAM
In response to the letter by John Macleod, (A Question of Energy, Illawarra Mercury, Wednesday May 9, 2018), the action of successive governments has destroyed Australia's low cost energy supply industry.
Their policies have led the nation into an abyss of high electricity and gas prices, with uncertain reliability.
Without doubt, the biggest scam perpetrated against taxpayers and consumers is renewable energy.
Influencing politicians are self-interested lobbyists who have fallen for green falsehoods that the coal fired power station that supply four fifths of our electricity are dirty and no longer needed.
Many politicians have themselves drunk deeply from that kool aid.
Energy prices would fall dramatically, if the Turnbull government ripped up the Paris Climate Agreement and built a new coal fired power station.
New coal technology is allowing countries like China, Japan and some nations in Asia to build "clean" coal fired power plants and these plants are using the best coal in the world from Australia.

BORING COALITION BASHING
In response the John Pronk’s comment (Something More Positive, Illawarra Mercury, May 15) I put it to John he, as he has in the past, acts out the old idiom, “…the pot calling the kettle black”.
He and an endless list of Laborites frequently fill this page with an extreme level of “boring” Coalition bashing.
The disgrace of Australia’s involvement with the boat people trade this century, and the loss of so many lives at sea, is solely the responsibility of Federal Labor.
All Australians would surely like to put this sorry episode behind them.
However, current Labor parliamentarians, who will never learn, are publicly expressing desires to relax our current border-protection laws.
This would restart the whole shameful boat-people saga all over again.
I am surprised at John’s comments about the plight of many South African farmers, it is not the sort of things I would expect him to say – it is a form of hate speech.
He appears to have joined the ranks of the lefty hypocrites who want Australia to treat white asylum seekers in a racist manner by denying them the same level of help we offer people from coloured nations.
His comment about all this “unfair” Labor-bashing will help the “Kill Bill” drive is laughable.
There is no need for such a drive.
Bill Shorten is doing a first-class job of killing himself.
