They will be playing a mixture of tuneful music by various composers including Elgar, Debussy, Delius, Hiscocks and Benjamin.
Philippa Mo is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London and the Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing.
She performs worldwide as a chamber musician and is a founder member of the highly successful violin duo Retorica.
Philippa is a champion of contemporary music and has worked closely with a number of leading British composers such as John McCabe, David Matthews and Gabriel Prokofiev, many of whom she has recorded on prominent labels.
Appointed as senior lecturer in violin at the Leeds College of Music, Philippa has been awarded Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) and performs on a violin by Julius Cesare Gigli from 1786.
Wendy Hiscocks, originally from Wollongong, studied with Peter Sculthorpe at the University of Sydney before moving to London in 1987.
Her music has been performed by major international artists and ensembles such as Piers Lane, Michael Collins, Elizabeth Connell, Schubert Ensemble and Jesus College Choir at a range of venues and festival that include the Amadeus Festival (Geneva) and the Australian Chamber Music Festival to London’s Purcell Room and the Kusatsu International Summer Academy and Festival (Japan).
Championing Australian music has been a lifelong interest and her most recent recording released on Naxos features her accompanying Susan Bickley and Christopher Gillett in the songs of Arthur Benjamin and Edgar Bainton.
Wendy is artistic director of Celebrating Australian Music.
