More than 3000 performers from at least 120 public schools, from Wollongong Public to Norfolk Island Central School, are taking part in this year’s event, which is set to be the biggest in Southern Stars’ 18 year history.
This year’s show includes three circus troupes, the NSW Public Schools Millennial Marching Band, a rock band, 600-strong choir, 100-strong Aboriginal dance ensemble, a teacher’s choir, 50-member orchestra, digeridoo ensemble, boy’s vocal ensemble, and signing choir.
An estimated 12,000 people are expected to attend the four Southern Stars shows, which are this year themed ‘Iconic’.
A school matinee was held at 10am on Friday, with a performance also being held at 7.30pm. The shows continue on Saturday at 2pm and 7.30pm.
