Benefiting from an inside draw in barrier two, Adams saved ground along the fence before launching his challenge at the furlong pole to take out the Dashley Dubh/Mick Tubman Class 1 Handicap (1200m). 

Cuban Royale had been sent out as a $51 fixed odds hope with the TAB, but proved far better than his price suggested as he surged past Godolphin’s Watchdog ($2.30) to score by a long neck.

Theresa Bateup trained Golly I’m Lucky ($4.60) ran home well for third.

The victory kicked off a solid day for the Price stable, which combined with Adams again to salute on Budderoo Knight later on the card.

A bold front-running effort from Budderoo Knight ($2.20) saw the seven-year-old edged out the John Sargent trained High Tranquility ($4.80) in a head bobbing finish to the Gwenda Markwell Benchmark 64 Handicap (1400m). 

Markwell ensured success for the locals wasn’t limited to the Price stable.

Thor’s Thunder gave the region’s leading trainer a deserved victory when the four-year-old son of Rothesay took out the Barrie Purcell CG&E Maiden Handicap (1400m) for jockey Mitchell Bell.

Sydney-based trainers Matthew Smith, John O’Shea, David Payne, Jim and Greg Lee as well as John, Wayne and Michael Hawkes all tasted success on the eight race card.
