We’d just kept our unbeaten start to the A-League season alive with a dominant 2-1 home victory over Brisbane Roar, but we were a bit disappointed. 

We were annoyed at ourselves for conceding a late Adam Taggart goal from the penalty spot.

For me, that’s a great sign. 

It shows where we are at as a team – that we know how well we are capable of playing. 

We want to make sure there are no errors at all in our game and plan to hold ourselves to a high standard throughout the campaign. 

That disappointment shows just how much the squad cares about making that happen. 

As a group we’ve achieved a fair bit in the first couple of rounds, with seven points on the board already. But we know it’s only the start. 

The challenge now is continuing in the same vein, which is going to be a tough task this weekend against Adelaide United. 

United will be our sternest test so far this season.

People might say that our game against the Victory in Melbourne in round two was a tougher assignment, but this is a greater challenge in my eyes. 

They’ve been in sensational form and have already banked some silverware by winning the FFA Cup final last week. Obviously Craig Goodwin has been in wonderful form as well. 

Every ball he touches seems to be hitting the back of the net right now so we have to be able to contain him.

With that said, he won’t be our sole focus.  

United haven’t got to where they are on the ladder because of one player and undoubtedly have dangers all over the park.

Unfortunately I will be on the sidelines again, but I have my sights set on a return from injury after the international break in round five. 

Wellington would have to be disappointed. 

The Phoenix got off to a great start to the season under new coach Mark Rudan and had the chance to improve on that on their home turf against Western Sydney Wanderers.

Unfortunately they didn’t show up and paid the price. 

They’ll need to regroup when they meet another side who has been mixing their form; Melbourne City. 

City’s poor performance against Sydney FC was a bit of a shock and it is a worrying sign for them.

Inconsistency was a common them last season for them and it seems to be the case again early in the campaign. 

If they don’t change that quick smart, they’ll be staring down the barrel of another up and down season before they know it.
