The meet will provide further race practice for the region’s top swimmers before the summer of swimming ramps up in the coming months.
More than 200 swimmers are registered to compete, with youngsters from Corrimal, Dapto, Kiama, Wollongong, Wests Illawarra and Oak Flats all set to attend. Swimmers from as far as Hornsby and Liverpool will also travel down to Wollongong for the meet.
Athletes will contest 50 metre and 100m races across all four strokes, with freestyle distance events and medley races also being held.
The carnival comes on the back of the club receiving a state government grant of $6000. The funds will be used to improve facilities at Corrimal Swimming Pool, with money going towards the purchase of covers, trolleys and signage.
