The better fish are on the deeper drifts up around Stanwell Park and beyond and were from the 40 metre plus depths with plenty of great tasting gummy sharks as well as big flounder in the mix.
The beach fishing has really picked up with the warmer water and there are plenty of table fish to be pulled from the breakers using beach worms, pipis or the freshest available.
Plenty of whiting, bream and flathead are about as well as some good sized tailor and monster salmon.

During the running of last Sunday’s annual Ocean Storm Tackle and Wollongong Sportfishing Club’s Lake Illawarra Flathead Classic, one very lucky Caleb Beauchamp was selected at random to be awarded a sensational Shimano raider rod and reel combo for his continued determination to catch a sizeable flatty for the comp.
Brock Evans, who runs a Facebook site “A Kid Teaching a Kid to Fish a Kid’s Way”, was also entered in the flatty comp, and observed young Caleb who was putting in the casts as hard as anyone could.
A quick shout and Brock and his dad Grant, pulled up alongside and donated the outfit to a very surprised and stunned Caleb. Good karma to you Brock - well done.
