A Bomaderry man who pleaded guilty to trying to arrange a sexual tryst with a teenage boy over the internet has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.

Scott Edward Roulston, 50, believed he was speaking with a 14-year-old boy over Facebook Messenger between February 27 and March 15 last year year when he engaged in a number of “highly sexualised” online conversations.
Unbeknown to Roulston, the person behind the fictitious profile was an undercover police detective from the NSW Police child exploitation unit.
Court papers said Roulston's internet activity had been referred to NSW Police via their Federal counterparts.
In a recorded sting, detectives assumed the identity of a teenage boy and communicated with Roulston on a number of occasions.
Court documents said in one conversation when Roulston was asked what would happen if they met, he responded “lots of things” telling the boy it would “help him to decide if u (sic) really like guys and u wouldn't be a virgin by the end.”
...he asked again if the boy would like to have sex and asked for a picture of his body, but warned they would have to be 'discreet, nobody should know' and he would have to 'find a hotel room'.
Asked if they would be meeting for sex Roulston responded “Oh yes, of course, that’s the only way to show u what it’s like with a guy.”
He also told officers “having sex with a guy you can do the same things to each other - you can’t do that with a girl.”
“Whatever I do to you, I want you to do to me.”
He then went on to describe some of the acts he intended to commit like kissing, masturbation, oral sex, saying he “would do it first to show you", police allege.
In a March 3 message, Roulston said he wanted to have sex with the boy, and sent a naked picture of an adult male’s torso with the penis exposed, which he said was his own.
On March 13 he asked again if the boy would like to have sex and asked for a picture of his body, but warned they would have to be “discreet, nobody should know” and he would have to “find a hotel room”.
Police said on March 15 Roulston sent a video to the youth showing him masturbating.
Officers attached to Strike Force Trawler arrested Roulston at his workplace on June 21, and executed a search warrant at his Bomaderry home.
Officers seized a computer, mobile phone and electronic storage devices.
He was taken to Nowra Police Station and charged.
Police said Roulston admitted to the crimes during an interview.
In Sydney Downing Centre District Court on February 27, Roulston was sentenced to two and a half years’ jail by Judge Phillip Mahony for using a carriage service to groom a child under 16 years for sex.
Judge Mahony set a non-parole period of 15 months. With time already served he could be eligible for release in September this year.
