While this one is called "Not The Proms", it will feature rousing tunes ranging from Tchaikovsky's legendary 1812 Overture to Latin jazz and street music, and a finale featuring the famous Town Hall pipe organ.
The concert will feature the Wollongong Community Orchestra, the Con Artists, the Curious Rendition Orchestra and Con Wind Ensemble.
Conservatorium CEO Joe Gaudiosi said this was possible due to some funding from Wollongong City Council toward the venue hire.
"We are simply turning that funding around and offering the concert to the community essentially free, however any donation will be greatly appreciated", Mr Gaudiosi said.
The Con's instrumental community music program is headed by David Rooney and has grown from 40 members to 140 over the past 4 years.
Over that time the Con has also added a community choir, originally under the management of Rachel Bate and now Trish Delaney Brown.
"The Con is blessed with many marvellous, passionate and dedicated teachers across the various programs offered," Mr Gaudiosi said.
The Con's Not the Proms is at the Wollongong Town Hall on Saturday, August 31, at 7pm.
Entry by donation.
