AMA Event Management will be hosting camel racing at Dapto Showgrounds on Saturday, November 16 from 3pm to 9pm.
AMA Event Management's Michelle Reynolds said they'd recently hosted camel racing events in Penrith and Gosford, and were now bringing them to the Illawarra.
"I think it's just something different, and it's a good day out for the families," she said.
"We thought the people down there would be interested in it."
She said the camels are ethically treated in their North Coast living arrangement, transport and event life, and weren't whipped.
"They race Australia-wide, without the use of whips or any other restrictive apparatus," she said.
"They're not bothered by the crowd or anything like that."
She said they planned to make this an annual event in the Illawarra.
The first race starts at 4pm.
The day will also feature pony rides, amusement rides, market stalls, food vendors, children's activities, DJs and more.
There will also be having 'human T-Rex' races, using inflatable dinosaur suits.
