Ken and Janelle Murray run Kens Cones and, between 5pm and 8pm, they'll have an ice cream van out the front of their Redman Avenue home ready to hand out soft serve to the kids - and they can even choose their own topping.
The idea, which marks the business' 25-year anniversary, was inspired by an earlier ice-cream related Halloween memory.
"I remember years ago we had the van parked in the front yard and we had trick or treaters," Mr Murray said.
"We never had any goodies, so I said to the young kids, 'how about an ice cream?'
"So I just got the machine ready and whipped up five ice creams and they were as happy as."
Mr Murray is also going to be giving away prizes for the best costume with the top prize being free hire of a fairy floss machine.
He happily admits that he's not a Halloween naysayer who complains that we shouldn't be participating in an American event.
"Life's about enjoyment - I don't care where it comes from," he said.
"Where does pizza come from? We love it but it's not ours."
When it comes to people flocking from out of the area so their kids can snaffle a free choctop or cone with sprinkles, Mr Murray isn't too worried about that.
"People coming from Wollongong? I doubt it. Personally I'm not going to drive to Wollongong just to get a free ice cream
"At the end of the day we've got three hours and if we're flat out for three hours, so be it. Around 90 per cent of people are going to be local."
