Dylan James Lewis, 19, faces charges of being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence after police will allege a group of year 10 students witnessed the alleged act then reported it to a teacher, who placed the school into lockdown.
Meanwhile, a student checked her Snapchat, at which time she saw a video of the drive-by incident had been uploaded to a mutual friend's account.
The video allegedly showed the car being driven erratically around in circles in a nearby field, along with a picture taken from the back seat showing the rifle sitting between the passenger's seat and the centre console.
The girl messaged the boy asking if he'd driven past the school and he allegedly replied "yea, with a gun, hahaha".
She took a screen shot of the message, allegedly prompting the other passenger to threaten her.
An investigation by police led to Lewis where he was subsequently arrested then released on bail during an October 18 court appearance.
The teen was back in Wollongong Local Court on Thursday after police caught him sitting next to his co-accused Liam Edwards while he and friends drove around North Wollongong.
Lewis' bail conditions prohibit him from making contact with Edwards.
Police facts tendered to court during the bail application allege Lewis was in a friend's car when the driver was stopped by police in a residential street for a random breath test on Thursday about 3.30am.
Lewis was arrested and taken to Wollongong police station where he admitted to breaching his bail conditions.
Registrar Bruiceen Coulthard allowed Lewis to remain at liberty.
"There is no doubt in anyone's mind that he breached his bail," she said. "However, the concerns can be mitigated.
"Bail will be continued and varied with a curfew condition imposed."
She warned Lewis that if he breached his court conditions for a second time, "you will not be on bail again".
Late last year, Lewis' nighttime curfew was revoked however he will once again need to stay at his mother's home between 8pm and 8am unless in the company of his mum or grandmother.
