Prosecutors will allege high quality CCTV cameras installed inside the home caught 41-year-old Trevor Hall red-handed and bare-bummed as he carried out the daring robbery last month.
Police claim it was just after 6am when Hall gained entry to the house by removing a fly screen and forcing open the bathroom window.
He left a screwdriver behind on the external window sill as he climbed through the window and into the house.
CCTV cameras set up inside the home show Hall wearing a hooded jumper and a towel around his waist as he walks through the ground floor into a room at the front of the house.
He then discards the towel revealing a bare bum and a distinctive scar on his left thigh.
He then picks up two laptops and a handbag and leaves the property via the front door.
The occupants, asleep at the time, discovered the theft about an hour later and notified police, who recognised Hall and arrested him at his nearby home a short time later.
Officers discovered both laptops inside Hall's house, as well as the jumper he'd been wearing in the footage.
When interviewed, Hall told police he couldn't remember being at the location but said the screwdriver found at the scene was "definitely his".
Hall was charged with aggravated break and enter and remanded in custody.
He sought release on bail during a court appearance on Tuesday, however Magistrate Michael Stoddart refused the application.
He noted Hall had a significant criminal record and would likely face a lengthy jail term if convicted of the current charge.
"This is a very serious offence from a man who has a very serious record," he said.
The case was adjourned for a week for police to serve Hall's legal team with the rest of the brief of evidence.
