The woman has told police she fled through a bedroom window and took refuge at a neighbour's house, only to be terrorised a second time several hours later when she returned home.
Police will allege Joshua Edwards, 25, banged so hard on the woman's kitchen window that the glass broke, after he turned up at the Woonona property about 12am Thursday.
Edwards allegedly remained inside for several hours, in defiance of an apprehended violence order, before going through the woman's phone when she left it unguarded.
The woman has told police Edwards flew into a rage after inspecting the device, hitting her with a broom handle, leaving two forearm-shaped dints in two smashed bedroom doors, and using his elbow to smash a large hole in a gyprock wall.
She alleges Edwards followed her when she fled through a window to a neighbour's home, where two large dogs on leads deterred him from coming any further.
Police could not find Edwards when they arrived soon afterwards, but he allegedly confronted the woman after she returned to her home about 7am,
The woman says she let him inside in the hope it would spare her home from further damage.
He allegedly asked her, "why did you do it?" - referring to the call to police - before grabbing at her when she yelled at him in response.
In a police account of events that he will "strenuously deny", Edwards allegedly chased the woman and grabbed her in the lounge room, "throwing her around and punching her to the body a number of times", including a blow that landed to the right side of her stomach.
He allegedly dragged her through the lounge room, leaving a path of strewn furniture, and pulling clumps of hair from her head.
Police will allege Edwards later picked up a piece of broken glass form the kitchen floor and said "yeah dog, yeah dog, I'm just gonna f---in' stab ya".
He allegedly then used the glass to "stab" the woman in her upper right arm, upper left thigh and scalp.
Concerned neighbours called police, who arrived to find the woman shaking.
Edwards was arrested at his home Saturday night and sought bail in Wollongong Local Court on Monday.
His lawyer, Adam Booker, told the court the woman's injuries, described by police as "superficial nicks and scratches" were "inconsistent with a piece of glass".
The court heard Edwards had a history of defying bail and other court orders and of violence towards the community and police.
Magistrate Jillian Kiely noted the allegations were "extremely serious" and refused to set the protesting Edwards free.
"Why am I bail refused?" he asked the court.
"I've done nothing wrong."
The matter is due to return to court on May 7.
