While the league has not yet finalised the draw for the rescheduled season, it has been reported head office is considering pitting a number of traditional rivals to kickstart the competition.
For the Dragons that would mean a clash with Cronulla and McGregor said it would be a great way to start with a bang.
"We haven't got anything at the moment," McGregor said. "The date we thought we'd have the information at the latest would be the 11th, which is Monday.
"At this stage, we haven't got any information around round three or what date we play. That will really make a difference with how you schedule that third week.
"Starting with a rivalry round makes sense, it really brings strong intensity to the buildup and into the game. If that was the way the NRL decided to go with the draw, we'd like that."
