Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad began an investigation last month, following reports a young girl had been sexually abused by a man who was known to her.
Officers arrested a 30-year-old man at Wollongong Police Station about 10am on May 6.
He was charged with two counts of intentionally sexually touching a child (between 10 and 16 years) and indecent assault of a person under 16 years.
Police will allege in court that the man sexually abused the girl on three occasions between 2014 and 2019, while she was in his care.
He appeared at Wollongong Local Court on May 6 and was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Nowra Local Court today.
