Zampa developed into an Australian one-day and Twenty20 star while with South Australia, but the spinner moved back to NSW this season, following the retirement of Steve O'Keefe.
While Test bowler Nathan Lyon may yet stand in his way of selection, Zampa could still play a key role in helping the Blues defend their Sheffield Shield crown.
"The prospect of moving back home and being able to play for the state I started with and where I played my junior cricket means a lot to me," Zampa said when he signed for NSW.
"I'm looking forward to testing myself in Shield cricket with a team of this calibre and I'm hoping to get the opportunity of playing with Nathan Lyon."
The Blues will meet South Australia in the final round of the four-day domestic competition at North Dalton Park, starting on April 6, announced on Wednesday.
The final starts on April 15.
Wollongong has been host to some thrilling first-class contests, including two years ago, when Queensland batsman Marnus Labuschagne announced himself as a future Test star with a stunning 134 at North Dalton Park.
Labuschagne helped the Bulls bounce back from a 159-run deficit to beat NSW outright by 36 runs, after bowling the Blues out for 243 on the last day.
