Ross Pusser, 41, pleaded guilty to six charges in Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday.
He was arrested on June 11 last year at Dapto Railway station where he had arranged to meet up with who he thought was a 13-year-old girl but was in fact police officers.
An agreed set of facts tendered to court said officers assumed an online identity of a 13-year-old girl in April 2020 and began messaging Pusser via Instagram, under his username "king_of_wolves_and_vikings" before the conversation moved to Skype.
He used a different name to his own but the account was linked to his personal email address.
Pusser spoke to the "girl" between April 8 and June 10 and on multiple occasions the officer referred to being a 13-year-old girl, in year 7 and that she needed to avoid detection from her mother.
During one Skype conversation, Pusser sent a photo of his face using a filter, which partially obscured his features.
On two occasions, Pusser attempted to solicit videos from the "girl" in the shower.
"You can Facetime me while in the shower," he wrote.
"Omg ud see me naked lol," the "girl" replied.
"Would that be OK? Lol you're really beautiful."
The conversation escalated and Pusser discussed various sexual topics with the "girl', encouraging her to explore herself sexually and told her specific sexual activities he would like to do with her when they met in person.
Pusser then proposed to met her at Dapto Railway Station on June 11, giving her suggestions on what to wear.
Pusser's phone was seized and examined after he was arrested and charged.
Officers found 268 videos and images of child abuse material.
Police discovered Pusser had stored images in a 'mega' sharing account and transmitted child abuse material to four separate people.
In one instance, Pusser exchanged sexually explicit messages about children with a person purporting to be a 25-year-old woman.
Alarmingly, Pusser had previously coached an under 13s girls AFL team, however the facts made no suggestion that any of the images were of children he knew.
Pusser pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material; using a carriage service to procure child under 16 for sexual activity; three counts of using a carriage service to transmit, publish or promote child abuse material; and possess controlled material using a carriage service.
The counts carry a maximum penalty for 15 years in prison.
In court on Wednesday, Magistrate Gabriel Fleming read out each of the charges to which Pusser replied "guilty your honour" for each offence before formally being committed for sentence.
Pusser cried, wiped away tears and put his head in his hands during the proceedings.
Pusser will be sentenced in Wollongong District Court and the case was adjourned to March 12.
