Tyson Komainadravusa, 18, admitted he roped two other teens into the robbery after his colleague Cayden Collis allegedly wanted to carry out the home invasion because he needed cash to pay for his unborn child.
Komainadravusa pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery in company in Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday, as did co-accused Vettori Dargin and Justin Hanslow.
Cayden Collis' lawyer indicated her client was expected to plead guilty to the same charge and similar agreed facts next Wednesday.
In agreed facts tendered to court, police allege Komainadravusa and Collis planned to carry out the robbery on July 27 last year after their painting job cancelled due to rain.
Komainadravusa invited his friend Dargin, 18, to "make a bit of money" saying they would steal "2-3 pounds (of marijuana)" as well as "a gaming laptop and PlayStation and s**t", adding "we will get paid for it".
Dargin, who lives in Bellambi, asked "is there going to be people? I wanna do it to make some money but I don't cause haven't done this s**t in ages".
Collis allegedly drove Komainadravusa, Dargin and another friend, 19-year-old Justin Hanslow to the victim's George Street home in Figtree.
A neighbour's security footage allegedly showed Collis' car drive up and the men covered their faces before walking to the garage door.
The victim, a 20-year-old man who was as home with four female friends, opened the door and the teens stormed in.
Komainadravusa and Dargin carried knives and Collis allegedly had a baseball bat.
Komainadravusa grabbed the victim by the collar of his hooded jumper before and he ran his hand through the victim's mullet, saying "this is nice, I like this".
One of the men grabbed the "buds" (marijuana) that was on the kitchen table before Collis allegedly picked up the victim's Xbox console and put it inside his duffle bag.
One the man's female friends started filming the men as they were looking for items.
Komainadravusa pushed the man into his bedroom where Dargin allegedly held a 30cm knife to the victim's throat. Dargin is disputing this fact.
The home invasion was interrupted when the victim's brother came down the stairs prompting Komainadravusa to say "come on let's go".
The brother ran up the stairs and locked the door as he was concerned for his family's safety before his mother called Triple 0.
The men left but as they did Dargin punched the victim in the left cheek. As they were leaving, one of the female friends took a photo allegedly of Collis' car.
All together a Xbox console, Citizen watch, a Louis Vuitton glasses case, a Gucci bag and $900 worth of cannabis was stolen.
The men allegedly split up the cannabis between them after they arrived at Komainadravusa's house.
Over the next few days all four men were arrested and charged.
During Komainadravusa's arrest at his home, police found the stolen Xbox, knife, Gucci bag and cannabis.
During a police interview he denied he was armed during the robbery and acknowledged he was the "brains of the operation".
He told police he allegedly spoke to Collis about carrying out the robbery because Collis "needed money for the kid coming".
Dargin told police he had been armed with a knife and tried to conceal his identity. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault
Hanslow was arrested on August 9 after he fled his home when police arrived.
The three men were committed for sentence in the Wollongong District Court on March 5.
