The Roo Theatre is hosting the inaugural Shellharbour's Got Talent quest, beginning with primary aged children and teenagers stepping on the stage.

Theatre general manager Josif Jovanovski said their "Junior" category of ages seven to 12-year-olds was full but applications were still being taken for the "Senior" category of 13-year-olds to 18-year-olds.
"Lots of singers have entered and we have quite a few musicians - like guitar players ... and a didgeree doo player," Mr Jovanovski said. "We even have a a contortionist and someone doing light saber tricks and some dancers."
He said the Roo's committee were thinking of doing something like this for some time when a gap in their busy theatrical schedule allowed - which turned out to be during the Easter school holidays. It's hoped an adult competition could also be run in the future.
The Junior section will have their time to shine on Tuesday evening, April 6, and the Senior division on Wednesday night, April 7.
Prizes include cash and gift cards, with winners chosen by a judging panel including a celebrity performer.
"We just wanted to open up the Roo for more than just performance adn theatre shows ...with this, it gives anybody who hasn't experienced live performance a chance to get on stage," Mr Jovanovski said.
