The Wollongong-based coach has been linked to A-League rivals Melbourne Victory after the club parted ways with Grant Brebner last weekend. Steve Kean has since been named as Victory's interim coach for the rest of the season, however, it is understood Talay and former Western Sydney Wanderers manager Tony Popovic are among their long-term targets.
Rumours may continue to swirl, but it doesn't seem to be affecting the Phoenix's on-field performances, who have claimed back-to-back A-League victories.
"Obviously as players, we like working under 'Uffie', but those decisions are up to Uffie. He will decide what's best for him and his family, so I'll let him talk about his future," Fenton said.
"As a team, we're just focused on the games every week and trying to win and make the top six, that's our main goal. We've gone through this contract stuff with other coaches before, a lot of players. It's part of football and you can't get distracted by that kind of stuff."
After departing Perth with a win, the Phoenix have landed in Launceston ahead of Thursday night's clash with Western United. Fenton said they were keen to continue that winning momentum as they eye off a finals spot.
"We're definitely on a bit of a run now. It's a massive game on Thursday and we need to do well just to keep that run going," he said.
"But we're full of confidence and we're planning on picking up three points."
