Ms Sloan is a long-time board member herself and has served on several not-for-profit boards. She was elected unopposed after Rex Leighton opted to stand down at The Con's annual general meeting but will remain a member of the board.
"I have a passion for making music accessible for everyone and am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve for four years on the Board with Rex as Chair," Ms Sloan said.
"This is a very exciting time to be taking on the Chair role and I am really looking forward to working with David [Francis] to lead The Con into the next era.
"We have had the opportunity to implement new ways of teaching and sharing music through the COVID-era, and will certainly draw on this and on our long history of music education and performance as we develop our future direction."
The Con's new CEO, David Francis, said he was looking forward to working with Ms Sloan and bringing "new energy and direction at the governance, operational and creative levels".
Mr Francis took over the top job in May with a vision to extend the reach and offerings of the conservatorium, and see more people thorugh the doors.
