In the past week, Robertson on the escarpment recorded 125mm of rain, while Mount Pleasant had 104mm and Mount Kembla had 95mm.
Closer to shore, Wollongong recorded 63mm, Albion Park 61mm, and Kiama 56mm.
The wet weather was not ideal for organisers of the annual Wings Over Illawarra event, however the region's surfers and bodyboarders lapped up the accompanying large seas on the coastline, with the swells reaching up to two metres offshore near Port Kembla on Sunday, prompting the Bureau of Meterology to issue a warning to boaters and anyone considering rock fishing in the area.
Surf conditions are expected to ease early this week, however the outlook remains glum, with the skies to remain cloudy all week and rain forecast again from Wednesday.
