1. Carnival in Crown Street Mall, April 11-13
The Showtime Carnival includes a ninja obstacle course for children aged five to 12, rides such as the cup and saucer, mini-pirate ship and Kanga Bounce, as well as sideshow games, fairy floss, snow cones and more. Running 10am to 3pm daily until Wednesday. Details.
2. Hawks game in Wollongong, Thursday, April 14
The Illawarra Hawks face the Sydney Kings for a third installment of the Adrian Hurley Cup on Thursday, April 14, tipping off at 7.30pm. It's the last home game of the season, so get out and support our Hawks for their NBL22 finals bid. Details.
3. Buddha's birthday festival in Berkeley, April 15-18
The Nan Tien Temple welcomes all families over the long-weekend for a free festival that features children's games, a treasure hunt, creative arts activities, gift stalls and a vegetarian food fair. It runs 9am to 5pm from Friday, April 15 to Monday, April 18. Masks required indoors. Details.
4. Easter Show in Towradgi, Saturday, April 16
The Easter Show makes its way back to Towradgi Beach Hotel for the first time since the pandemic began, with dodgem cars, a Ferris wheel, giant slide, sideshow games, snow cones, food, entertainment and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Two sessions: 10am to 2pm, and 1pm to 5pm. Details.
5. Kids tour of 11-acre Warrawong farm, Saturday, April 16
Take the kids on a tour of Green Connect Farm in Warrawong. Kids can visit the thriving market gardens, food forests and native rainforest, play in the children's garden and find the free-range goats, sheep, pigs and chickens to give them a pat and a feed. Running 9am to 10.30am. Details.
6. Dragons kick-off in Wollongong, Sunday, April 17
Spend Easter Sunday at the footy as the two steel city teams - St George Illawarra Dragons and the Newcastle Knights - collide at WIN Stadium for round six of the NRL season. Kick-off at 4.05pm. Details.
7. Jamberoo Action Park, every day of the holidays
Jamberoo is open every day of the Easter school holidays, with the last day of the season on April 25. Rides include Velocity Falls, the Perfect Storm, Funnel Web, the Taipan, Banjo's Billabong and Outback Bay. Details.
8. Encanto dance party in Shellharbour, Tuesday, April 19
Fans of the hit animated movie Encanto can expect dancing games, streamers, limbo and an exploding pinata at Shellharbour Club. Mirabel will be there and kids are encouraged to dress up. From 11am to 12.30pm. Details.
9. Circus show in Shellharbour, Thursday, April 21
Be mesmerised by every spin of Spinderella's hoops. See amazing acrobatic and circus skills, comedy and maybe even participate in a dance-off. The Shellharbour Club, 11.30am to 12.30pm. Details.
10. Watch the Wolves play in Wollongong, Friday, April 22
Take the family to support the Wollongong Wolves when they go up against Mt Druitt Town Rangers at WIN Stadium on Friday, April 22. Details.
11. Free arts festival in Kiama, April 22-24
Kiama's Kiss Arts Festival features street performers, sideshow, circus and variety acts, a raft race, lantern-making workshops plus a lantern parade, a fire sculpture on the harbour, a fire show, musicians a stand-up comedy event, plus stand-up for kids. From April 22 to 24. Details.
12. Outdoor cinemas at Thirroul, Saturday, April 23
Watch Mary Poppins Returns (2018 version) at Thirroul Beach Reserve with the whole family. Movie starting at 6pm. Food and drink vendors on site. Details.
13. Light and sound festival in Port Kembla, Sunday, April 24
The Wentworth Street all-ages event features more than 20 artists across live music venues, vintage motorcycle stores, laneways and outdoor gardens. From 2pm to 11pm. Details.
14. Holiday Activities at the Library
- Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama libraries have got an array of activities on for kids these school holidays.
