National Tree Planting Day in Wollongong attracted dozens of families who enjoyed their environmental work in spring like weather.

The efforts of those such as Vicky Hopley and her daughters Isabel and Amelia saw thousands of trees planted on Sunday.
Mrs Hopley works for the Australian Taxation Office and is one of 20 staff who support the day every year.
“We come out here each year because it is a lovely thing to do for the community. I work for the tax office and my husband works for council and we like to support it as a local community event,” she said.
Mrs Hopley said it was always a great way to spend a day with her children who were so eager to come back to Greenhouse Park at Coniston every year.
National Tree Planting Day coordinator Keiran Bartle is the tree management officer with Wollongong City Council and said three tree planting sites in Wollongong.
The other locations were Illawarra Live Steamers and William Beach Reserve at Mullet Creek near Dapto.
Mr Bartle brought his own family along to Greenhouse Park to help out and they were all smiles.
He also pointed out the compost being used that had been sourced as a result of wast from a number of festivals held in Wollongong such as Yours and Owls and New Year’s Day as well as from the council administration building in Burelli Street.
