Is the overall level of shoplifting reduced because warning signs are placed in particular shops but not others?
I think not.
It simply tends to occur in shops where there is less surveillance.
Warning people that they will be fined if they speed in particular locations is similarly illogical.
A better approach would be to erect warning signs at dangerous locations for safety reasons, but develop the expectation among drivers that speed cameras could be anywhere.
No warnings.
This would reduce speeding generally, rather than just at advertised camera locations, and safety warning signs at danger spots would achieve that same purpose anyway.
Cameras in school areas should be excepted. Makes more sense to me.

TEARS TO MY EYES
This morning I read that the Federal Government were attempting to seek that the Federal Court no longer have the power to order that children come to Australia for medical treatment, from detention centres.
It brought tears to my eyes.
What sort of values does our government have, certainly not the same as mine.
This government needs to be moved on.
Scott Morrison has demonstrated he represents the 'insular peninsula'.
I would have been confident that Malcolm Turnbull would not have allowed this to start.
This is the first thing a new government needs to work on, the whole refugee/citizenship debacle.
As well a Bill of Rights for citizens and. Non citizens.
As a good old fashioned KPI, I would expect our local federal politicians to put their heart into it!

BE A TRUE INDEPENDENT
Hopefully the new Member for Wentworth, Dr Kerryn Phelps will not disappoint the Nation by becoming just another “politician”.
Dr. Phelps will take her place on the cross bench along with other independents some of whom, have consistently proven to lack the fortitude required to achieve the goals they so solemnly pledged to pursue when seeking election.
One need only to have witnessed the timidity of cross bencher and, Member for Mayo, Rhebeca Sharkey when interviewed by the ABC’s Breakfast News presenter Virginia Trioli on Thursday October 25.
For proof of this, when asked whether she would use the opportunity with the “hung parliament” to more vigorously pursue the issues which had resulted in her becoming the Member for Mayo, Ms Sharkey responded with a convoluted and, non- committal answer worthy of of ‘Yes Minister’s’ Sir Humphry Appleby.
Dr Phelps, unlike Ms. Sharkey we hope will not become “just another politician”.
Maybe instead Dr Phelps will remain a true independent; speaking up and acting with conviction in our parliament on matters important to the national interest.
