James Thomas Hughes, 26, of Como in southern Sydney, pleaded guilty to high-range drink driving and reckless driving in Nowra Local Court on Monday, March 4 before registrar Craig Cockburn.
Court papers said Hughes was driving a black Holden Commodore in Gerringong Street, Currarong around 12.10am on February 11 this year when he crashed into shrubbery at the end of a cul de sac.
His car subsequently got bogged and was stuck on leaf material and a concrete bollard.
Nearby neighbours who heard noise as Hughes and a passenger attempted to get the vehicle free alerted police.
When officers arrived at 12.50am the pair was still trying to extricate the bogged car.
Hughes admitted to police he was the owner and driver of the vehicle.
Officers suspected he was under the influence of alcohol, saying his speech was slurred, he was unsteady on his feet and there was a strong smell of alcohol.
He returned a positive breath test and later a breath reading almost four times the limit of 0.194.
Hughes told police he had been drinking at the Currarong Bowling Club for eight hours between 11am to 7pm the previous day and had consumed 10 schooners of full strength beer as well as a fish and chips meal.
The matter has been listed for sentence at Sutherland Local Court on March 21.
