LIKE A BAD DREAM
It was some what uncomfortable for me to see Ex PM John Howard on the news supporting the state Liberal Party and condemning Labor for possible siding with the "Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party.

It took my mind back to about 2003 when Bush Blair and Howard invaded Iraq because intelligence report stated that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
It soon proved that this was not the case.It was lies and more lies.
In the first week I saw on television that a mass bombardment was made on a particular part of the city in Iraq, because false intelligence again, had Saddam Hussein living there.
When morning came, and people sifted through the rubble, they found that hundreds of people had died, old people, children and their Mothers and Fathers . This was then written off as collateral damage. No floral tributes, no vigils , just silence, and much worse was to come.
It is estimated that 250,000 people have died in Iraq, a country invaded by three wise man, or where they? I've never thought they were the brightest stars in the sky in the first place.
To see John Howard now blowing his trumpet on the election campaign bagging the opposition and making lies up as he goes, makes me wonder about our civic leaders in 2002, and now John Howard should just fade away, like a bad dream..

PLAY FAIR OR NOT AT ALL
Recent election material on the coming state election that I found in my mailbox is downright disgusting.
Whether it be state, federal or elections of any kind, they are supposed to be conducted fairly.
If one can't play the game fairly, then it's best the one doesn't play the game at all.
Especially if the game is played by attacking their opponent personally and not their policies.
I refer to election material displaying claims about Mr Daley, the Labor opposition leader, from clippings extracted from The Daily Telegraph and The Australian, two of Rupert Murdoch's newspapers.
What sort of electioneering or campaigning is acceptable today?
I find it deplorable and unwise. Whoever was responsible for it, should take a good look in the mirror and not take the public for granted. It's an insult to their intelligence.

A STEP TO THE LEFT
It seems to me that the far right is far more involved in creating an environment of fear and loathing than those on the left.
And look where that has led to in Christchurch.
I would much rather see the youth of today taking action on something that will certainly affect their generation, which has been caused by the excesses and waste of previous generations.
It is tragically apparent that the far right groups are prone to extreme violence whereas us lefties tend to be more pacifist.
I agree that coal is required to produce steel, but that requires high quality coal.
Thermal coal used in power plants tends to be brown coal which is far more polluting and should be replaced by renewable energy sources.
