"The feedback given to me is that it's something that you can come home to and listen to in order to relax after work," he said.
"It was described to me as being a 'rock music without drums'-type scenario.
"Once people hear it and understand what you're doing, they're usually into it."
Mineeff, 37, is a multi-instrumentalist from Wollongong.
His self-released debut album GRIND was issued last year, and contains a song named after Mount Keira.
"My music is really inspired by the local area," he said.
"I play ambient music, and I try to fit my music to images of especially Lake Illawarra, and the moving of water and the relaxing feeling of the water."
Mineeff played all the instruments on the album, and performs live as a solo musician.
Mineeff said his style was based on melody.
"It's not meandering music that's background music," he said.
"Mine is based around piano and synthesizers."
Mineeff is assistant principal at Warrawong Public School, and opts to pursue music as a passion project.
He played guitar-based music as a teen, before gravitating towards a range of instruments.
He said there was a niche, but loyal following for ambient music.
"There's definitely a community of like-minded ambient musicians," he said.
Mineeff will next perform at The Servo Food Truck Bar, Port Kembla on April 27.
