A man is accused of brandishing a large knife at police in a public Dapto park on Tuesday afternoon.

Triple Zero was called about 5.30pm prompting Lake Illawarra to go to a home on the Princes Highway concerned about the safety of a woman.
Police will allege a 28-year-old man made a number of threats.
Police tried to negotiate with him but shortly after he was seen leaving the house with a pole in one hand and a bag in the other.
A police dog handler approached the man on Jerematta Street before he ran through a park and onto the Princes Highway.
The man allegedly ripped off his shirt, pulled out a large kitchen knife and started waving it towards police as they approached him on the highway.
The man was arrested shortly after and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.
He was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, offensive behaviour, and breach apprehended violence order.
A child at the location was not harmed and has been removed from the premises into the care of a relative.
The man was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday.
Police inquiries are continuing and further charges are expected to be laid.
