Wollongong United, Woonona and Bulli have all confirmed their positions for finals with one round remaining. Meanwhile, Albion Park, Olympic, Tarrawanna and Bellambi remain in the hunt for the last two places.
The White Eagles, who sit in fourth on 16 competition points, can book their spot if they beat Bulli on Sunday while the Rosellas, in seventh on 14 points, will start as favourites against Corrimal.
And sandwiched between them on the ladder are Olympic and the Blueys, on 16 and 15 points respectively, who will face off in a crucial showdown at Tarrawanna Oval on Sunday.
Olympic coach George Antoniou said everything was at stake for both IPL teams.
"They're fighting for a spot in the top five so it's going to be a really tough game. Our form hasn't been great over the last couple of weeks so we need to improve," he said.
"They're always well structured and their coach [Peter Willis] has always got them organised and disciplined. They're a young, quick side and that's what we're expecting on Sunday.
"I think we need to put in the chances that we've been creating over the last couple of weeks, which would put us in good stead for the match."
After winning last year's IPL premiership, Antoniou pledged to play plenty of youth in 2020. And in a shortened season impacted by COVID, the Olympic coach has stuck to that promise.
"People seem to put us with just buying players and whatnot, but we've really tried to give a lot of youth an opportunity this year to push for their places next year," Antoniou said.
"So I think it would be a massive achievement for the club [to make finals]."
While Olympic fights for a finals spot, rivals Wollongong United can sew up the premiers trophy when they face Coniston on Sunday.
It would be their third piece of silverware in 2020, after claiming the Frat Cup and Bert Bampton Cup.
While confident about their chances, United club president Peter Vrtkovski said the players weren't getting ahead of themselves.
"We've worked hard all year to secure that trophy. We've got one hand on it, but we're not going to count our chickens just yet," he said.
"We knew it's going to be a tough game against 'Cono'. We've played them twice this year and beaten in cup competitions so they'll be up for the challenge. But we're ready to go, the boys are training well.
"Hopefully come quarter past four on Sunday afternoon, we'll have that trophy wrapped up."
