life member Brad Johns said like other community based groups the museum has struggled to keep going.
"Now as the restrictions are slowly lifting we are opening this weekend," he said.
"Day one will be like starting all over again as we go into an new normal. And we have had to change to cater for it".
Mr Johns said Sunday will see the return of steam with the locomotive Kiama on main line run. The museum opened in 1972 and has owned the historic loco since 1977.
"It is a 1917 Davenport Steam locomotive that worked in the Kiama Tramways. Prior to that it worked on the Cordeaux Dam construction and hauled the sand from the Nepean River bed.
"The sand was then transported to Sydney by the then NSWGR for the construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge".
Sunday will also see the miniature train operating and visitors can also enjoy the train park and other historic items on display.
