It is no surprise Wollongong and District Avicultural Society president John Walker was chirping up ahead of the club's 72nd annual show at Bulli PCYC this Saturday.

The man they call Whiskey heads into the April 24 show riding high after starring at the Sydney Royal Easter Show earlier this month.
Walker dominated to win the Champion Border Canary with a white bird and the Res Champion with a buff.
He was "especially pleased" to win with a white bird, which he said was "very rare".
"Winning with a white bird is very rare," Walker said.
"After winning the Young Border Show with a white bird in July last year I thought it would be a while before that could happen again.
"Winning the Sydney Royal with a white bird is very special to me It's the second time that I have won the Royal with a white bird.
"It's just not heard of."
Walker has now set his sights on repeating his success on home soil at the April 24 show at Bulli PCYC.
The Wollongong club holds the prestigious Border Challenge Trophy which is competed between Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong Clubs.
The show this year will include the Illawarra Budgerigar Society 62nd Annual Show.
Walker reckons the show should bring 250 plus budgies, and see local breeders compete against the best breeders from all over the state.
"Jim Baker from Sydney will be a firm favorite to take out the event after winning the Sydney Royal but our locals will have some pretty good birds competing against him," he said.
"There will be over 900 birds on display featuring canaries, budgies, finches and parrots. Grand Champion bird awards will be awarded in each of these breeds from 3pm."
Considered one of the best shows of its kind in NSW, the Wollongong and District Avicultural Society show will be open to the public from 11.30am to 3pm on Saturday, April 24.
