For 12 days in a row during the Easter break families and friends can get out and about for free - in a bit to "help revitalise city centres" the NSW government said.
"I hope the Fare Free 12 Days of Easter is a way for you to enjoy quality time with family and friends during the school holidays, while at the same time helping to revitalise our city centres and local communities," said Minister for Transport and Veterans David Elliott.
"Head out and enjoy a long lunch on Eat Street in Parramatta, then stay for the Eels Vs Tigers match on Easter Monday, or commemorate Anzac Day in the city then enjoy a meal and a game of two-up, with public transport costs for the whole family on us.
"If you're like me you've got some Dine & Discover vouchers waiting to be used, so get the family together or gather your friends and take advantage of free travel to rediscover the best our city has to offer."
The Fare Free 12 Days of Easter covers all Opal network services in Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, the Hunter and the Illawarra, and includes Metro, train, bus, light rail and ferry services.
All modes of transport will be free for commuters for 12 days from 4am on April 14, Holy Thursday, to 3:59am on April 26, immediately following ANZAC Day.
